Our archival imagery is sourced from the Hulton|Archive which comprises over 300 separate collections and in excess of 40 million negatives, making it one of the greatest resources of original archive photography in the world. The library was founded by Edward Hulton, publisher of the seminal news weekly, Picture Post which revolutionised photojournalism and picture magazine publishing in Britain and beyond. In 1957 the archive was bought by the BBC who added the Daily Express and Evening Standard collections providing coverage of British and international events and personalities from 1939 to the early 1980s.
